Poker bots on the rise
The world of online poker is seeing a rise in the use of poker bots. Poker bots are software programs that can play poker in the place of a human player. Many poker sites have banned the use of this technology on their sites, however the developers of many of these poker bots have found ways around this. The developers have begun to use artificial intelligence software that can more accurately mimic a human player.These programs are learning to periodically loose a winning hand or to fold or raise at points where an inexperienced human player might. This is making poker bots more difficult for many of these gaming sites to detect. It is rumored that in any given online poker tournament that over half of the players are actually poker bots. The developers of these sites are trying to find new ways to detect these bots so that they can remove them from the games.
There are tournaments designed for the poker bots to play one another openly. Most online poker sites, however, do not allow the use of poker bots and see the use of them as cheating. There have been major increases in the number of online poker bots anyway though. This is becoming a major source of concern for poker sites because they are afraid that the use of poker bots will eventually drive away human players who wont think that they can win in a game. Poker bot usage shows no real signs of slowing down, however, in part due to the fact that these bots are becoming more sophisticated and therefore more difficult to detect.
Poker bots are continually gaining in popularity, not only because of the ability to win at online poker games but also because of the ability of the bots to teach a person how to better play poker. By showing a multitude of different ways that a hand could have been played, these bots are teaching players how to avoid common poker mistakes. This is helping to even out the playing field between experienced and new poker players in a relatively short amount of time.
Poker bots are giving new players invaluable poker training that is otherwise very hard to come by. This means that the use of poker bots will likely continue to gain in popularity and usage with players who are looking for new ways to improve their skills.
